Mom’s Biscuits or Shortcakes

Leslee says, use these for strawberry shortcake; at Marm’s house, sometimes we eat shortcakes straight from the oven for breakfast

2 cups flour

4 tsp. baking powder

dash of salt

1/2 stick of butter

2 T. sugar (cut down on sugar if you don’t want sweet biscuits) (Note from Marm: I use 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar to make a sweet biscuit; I also add a dash of cinnamon)

Cut all ingredients together like pie dough (You can also do this in a food processor)

Break one egg into a 1 cup measuring cup, stir it with a fork to break up the yolk, add enough milk to fill to top. Mix this in with dry ingredients, but do not over mix. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet.

Bake 375 for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
