Julie’s Brownies
Julie Mattila Montgomery was born three months before Leslee and grew up with her across the street in the flamboyant Mattila household. This collection wouldn’t be complete without a contribution from her. Julie made these brownies and a wonderful hot dish dinner for us when Mom died. After spending so much time with Leslee, she knows the way to help the LeRoux family deal with crises as well as celebrations is with food.
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
1 16-ounce can Hershey’s syrup
1 cup nuts (optional)
Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add syrup, flour, nuts. Pour into well greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 inch or 15 x 10 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
